Gabby Laurent’s performed choreography explores falling as an act both comic and tragic, full of loss and wilful abandon, repeated throughout our lives. Allowing her body to repeatedly give way to gravity, Laurent creates a space for self-reflection and contemplation of time, fate and circumstance, as well as for the raise of a contradictory element - for if falling is essentially accidental, then Laurent’s images capture a moment of control, rather than the loss of it.
