German artist Thomas Struth is renowned for his giant tableaux of industrial and modern life. For this exhibition catalogue, Lewis expanded his work beyond a conventional museum catalogue, incorporating details, colours, gatefolds, crops and intuitive layouts/sequences, interspersed by Japanese papers. Designed by Lewis Chaplin while working as Senior Designer at MACK, the book attempted to create a more flexible and playful reflection of the minute details and associations found in Struth's images.
Nature & Politics was published in English and German for exhibitions at Museum Folkwang, Essen; Martin-Gropius-Bau, Berlin; High Museum, Atlanta and St Louis Art Museum.
